Hiking California!

Hiking is a popular attraction for visitors to the Central Coast of California.  Los Osos, California is home of the great Montana De Oro State Park. 

If you like to hike and if you like views and if you like to smell fresh, clean salt air then the hike to Velencia Peak on the Velencia Peak Trail is a hike you don't want to miss.

Many people visiting the Central Coast have no idea the park exist.  In fact, many tourist have no idea the down of Los Osos exist.

Unless you are local and love hiking the trail might remain a secret.  I promise, you will love the park, the views and the trail.  Hiking California doesn't get any better than the hike up the hill to the peak of Velencia.

INFORMATION ABOUT THE VELENCIA PEAK TRAIL.

1.   This trail is about 5.5 miles in distance.  It is good hike so make sure you bring a back back full of goodies, water and anything else you might need to stay safe.  The hike will take you about 3 hours unless you are in super shape and run half the way.

2.   The trail is good but you need to watch your step in a few places and I suggest you bring a good walking stick.  You might need to fight back the bears.  Kidding, there are no bears but a walking stick might help.

3.    Now let me tell you how to get to this great hiking California Trail.  Trailhead: From Highway 1 in Morro Bay, take the S. Bay Blvd. Exit turn south towards the ocean and follow the signs for Montana De Oro and Morro Bay State Parks. Stay on S. Bay Blvd for four miles. Turn right onto Los Osos Valley Road (which becomes Pecho Valley Road after 1.5 miles) and follow it for 5.25 miles to the turnout for the Valencia Peak Trail. It is the first stop on the left after the campground and visitor center. There is also parking for the Bluffs Trail.

From the 101, exit Los Osos Valley Road in San Luis Obispo, head West and follow it for 12 miles to the park. (Lat:35.26334 Lon:-120.87235)
